Artist Statement

Sajida Asif is a Birmingham born artist who has travelled to many countries around the world which often inspire her paintings. Sajida first graduated with a degree in Psychology and went into teaching for a few years, before returning to her lifelong passion of painting. Sajida also completed a degree in Fine Art before graduating with a Masters degree in Fine art. Sajida has exhibited her paintings in galleries in Amsterdam, Walsall, Southampton and has had many other exhibitions in

Birmingham including more recently a six week solo exhibition at Winterbourne's Coach House Gallery, Direct Art Action Gallery and the Art Yard in Cradeley Heath.

Her work has often included elements of the eastern and western cultures representing her own identity. Her early works were centred around the theme of cultural differences and influenced by the Mughal period and Persian art. Sajida’s later artwork explored ideas of peace through finger labyrinths using mixed media and acrylic paints.

Sajida's more contemporary paintings have brought her back to acrylic painting on canvas where she now explores botanical art, nature and buildings. She often depicts personal  interpretations of her travels around the world.
